Talk:semantic drift
From OmegaWiki
Within OmegaWiki, we aim to prevent semantic drift from happening...
Is that the purpose of a dictionary? Semantic drift happens, ignorant of all dictionary entries. All OmegaWiki can do is go with it. --Mkill 17:01, 30 July 2006 (CEST)
- We aim to prevent semantic drift by sticking to the ideas/notion of the DefinedMeaning. This ensures that what we consider a proper translation IS very much a proper translation. When semantic drift happens in a language, it is natural. In a dictionary you want to prevent semantic drift in it's content because it makes the content unreliable.
